Introduction to Couture Sewing

This class is for anyone who would like to take their sewing skills to next level and begin creating one-of-a-kind artwork to wear on the body!  

This is a 4 week class that will cover the arts of embellishment and hand finishing.  No sewing machines required.  You will need to bring a sewn garment that is unfinished...unlined, hems undone and that you intend to embellish in some way.  Class meets for 3 hours per week, and...as in all of my classes, homework is required to finish your project!

Class price: $300 which includes some materials and supplies and use of tools during class.  I will provide embroidery hoops & threads, beads, needles and thimbles (and teach you the proper use of a thimble and why you should use one). Please bring your own embroidery scissors, patterns or designs that interest you and any special items you want to use for embellishments.

Couture and Hand Sewing Techniques

This class will cover common hand sewing and fabric manipulation and embellishment techniques used in haute couture creations.  You will finish the class with a sample book, created by you, of all the techniques covered in class.

This is a 3 week class that will get you on the way to creating your own couture garments!  Class meets for 3 hours per week, and...as in all of my classes, homework is required to finish your project!

Class price: $175 which includes some materials and supplies and use of tools during class.  I will provide fabric for your sample book, embroidery hoops & threads, beads, needles and thimbles (and teach you the proper use of a thimble and why you should use one). Please bring your own embroidery scissors and patterns or designs that interest you.

Corset Class 101
Make your first corset! In this class, you will use a pre-made corset pattern to create a really beautiful first corset!  Learn all about the finer points of corsetmaking to create a truly unique piece of engineering!

This is a 4 week class that will cover everything you need to know to walk away with a beautiful, one of a kind garment. Class meets for 3 hours per week, and...as in all of my classes, homework is required to finish your project!

Prerequisite: Must have completed a project in one of my beginner sewing classes or have independent, intermediate sewing skill.  

Class price: $400 which includes some materials and supplies and use of tools during class.  Includes pattern, coutil fabric, eyelets and lacings.  Student must provide their own outer fashion fabric, pre-laundered and ready to cut. Contact me before the class regarding suitable fabrics. Steel bonings are an additional $25, payable on the first day of class.

Hat Making Workshops
Choose your style...Fantasy, Victorian or 1940'/1950's.

These are weekend workshops designed to teach you the fine art of hatmaking.  Bring your lunch and I will provide tea, coffee, soft drinks, water and cookies to keep you going. There will be handouts on each technique so you can continue working at home.

Class price: $200 which includes all materials and wools and use of tools. Classes run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Class size is limited to 6 students and seats fill up quickly, so register soon!
